Wet pour playground surface is a safety surfacing material that combines two layers to create a safe surface for children to play on. It’s popular in schools and nurseries as it’s both affordable and looks great with any theme. It’s also a porous surface, meaning water drains through it easily, minimizing any trip hazards.
The base layer of wetpour is bound with a polyurethane resin, mixed on-site to the required depth based on tested critical fall heights. A colored top layer of rubber granules is then laid on this base. This top layer can be customized with graphics and patterns in a variety of colors, allowing playgrounds to be designed for specific themes.

It’s important to always use a professional installer when installing poured rubber flooring. They’ll be able to offer advice on the best material for your needs, as well as how much you need to cover the area. They’ll also know how to prepare the site for laying the surfacing, and ensure that there’s a sufficient level of concrete or crushed rock underneath.
Poured rubber has a high lifespan, and will last a lot longer than other alternatives, such as wood chip or PVC tiles. However, it’s essential that it’s installed correctly to the manufacturer’s specifications in order to get the most out of it.
The granules used in poured rubber are either recycled or virgin EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer). It’s recommended to use a mix of both, as the’recycled’ granules have been treated with a ‘buffing agent’ which can reduce their lifespan. We also recommend using an Aliphatic binder as this will offer better UV protection and won’t discolor like Aromatic binders can.
